Rotary sealing devices, commonly known as rotary joints, rotary unions, or swivels, provide a reliable seal between fixed piping and rotating components. In demanding applications where higher pressures or aggressive fluids are used, the rotary unions or swivels have poor reliability, relatively short operating life, and require frequent maintenance. As a result, maintenance costs and unplanned downtime increase and overall productivity is negatively impacted.
The following onDemand webinar, Rotary Sealing Solutions for Oil & Gas, discusses examples of materials, coatings, and innovative seal configurations that have been successfully applied to demanding applications in a variety of applications. In most cases, the design challenge was to increase operating life and performance of the rotary union or swivel. In others, the primary goal was to lower the total cost of ownership.
